Blog Post: Back-to-School: New School Year, Better Habits
Eco Quest is Mimro's weekly sustainability challenge: one question a week about eco-friendly living or a smarter product swap, answered right here in the comments. Small, fun choices add up — and every week ten players win a $25 Mimro digital gift card for getting it right.
This post is the home of Eco Quest. Bookmark it: each week's question is posted here, and the full rules live on the Eco Quest by Mimro page.
How to play
- Read. Each week's question is inspired by a topic covered on the Mimro blog. Most answers are one guide away.
- Answer. Post your answer in the comments below, with an email address we can reach you at. One entry per person per week.
- Win. At the end of the week, ten winners are drawn at random from the correct entries and receive a $25 Mimro digital gift card by email.
Where the answers hide
Questions draw on the practical guides in the blog. These six cover most of what we ask about:
- Kitchen habits that cut waste and save money
- Making bathroom hygiene both eco-friendly and comfortable
- Sustainable self-care: the beauty of going zero waste
- The art of clean living: transforming your space the sustainable way
- The eco home starter guide
- How to maximize your impact: small changes, big results
Five warm-up quests
Not sure where to start? These are the kinds of small choices Eco Quest is about. Try one this week and tell us how it went in the comments.
- The one-week paper towel count. Keep a tally of how many paper towels your household uses in seven days. Then look at what a two-pack of washable towels from Papaya or Cheeks Ahoy would replace.
- Empty-bottle audit. Line up every plastic bottle in your shower. For each one, is there a bar or tablet version? Shampoo and conditioner bars, toothpaste tablets and shave bars are the usual first three swaps.
- The refill, not the bottle. Next time a cleaning spray runs out, keep the bottle and refill it — tablet refills dissolve in tap water so you're not shipping a bottle of water across the country.
- Laundry without the jug. Swap one load to a detergent strip and note the difference in what's left in the recycling bin.
- Lunch that comes home. Pack one lunch this week in a container you'll wash instead of throw away. Stainless steel sets and beeswax wraps both count.
The rules, in short
- Ten winners are selected each week, at random, from correct entries.
- Each winner receives a $25 Mimro digital gift card, sent to the email you entered with.
- Gift cards are valid only on Mimro, expire December 31, 2026, are transferable and can't be exchanged for cash.
- Multiple Eco Quest gift cards can be used in a single order; any balance under $25 stays on the card until it expires.
- Each participant can win a maximum of four times.
